Heart problems in women: 6 vital symptoms you should not ignore

Heart disease reportedly is the number one cause of death in the world. If you are unaware about the disease then do not worry as today, we have compiled a list of signs that women can have if they suffer from heart disease.

We all know that chest pain or some discomfort in the chest area is the most common symptom of a heart ailment, but there are many symptoms which are subtle that you should not ignore completely. Also, sometimes, women can suffer from a heart attack without any chest pain.

Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum, D.O., Director of Women's Heart Health at the Heart and Vascular Institute at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York told Women's Health magazine, "Heart disease is most commonly due to blockages in the arteries, which is known as atherosclerosis”. “But there are four parts to the heart, and heart disease could be a problem with any of them”, she said.

Check out the tell-tale signs of heart problems right here:

Unusual fatigue

Is a simple activity like walking towards the bathroom or making your own bed make you tired? Then, you should not ignore the same as it can lead to a heart attack later if not treated on time.

Shortness of breath

Are you short of breath even if you walk for a few minutes? Then, the same is one of the signs of the heart disease. Women who have heart issues struggle to get oxygen, and the same is super vital as it is needed to go throughout the body. If your heart problem progresses then your breathing issue will also escalate.

Body ache

As mentioned above, heart ailments are not always felt in the chest area. So, if you are suffering from pain in your jaw, arm, shoulder, neck, upper back or pain in the abdomen, then do not simply brush off the same.

Nausea

Many do not know that women are more likely than men to experience common symptoms including nausea and other signs. Nausea is quite a common ailment that we suffer almost on a regular basis, but it can be heart-related as well.

Sweating

Many patients sweat profusely, especially have cold sweat even if they are not having a fever and the same could be a sign of heart ailment.

Dizziness

If you feel lightheaded or have your heart beating too quickly or irregularly, then the same are also one of the major signs of heart disease. This is one of the common issues, but if it persists then it's time to see a doctor.

If you notice more than two or three symptoms from the above-mentioned, then you should visit a doctor for a checkup before you get a heart attack. Tell your doctor about these warning signs and he or she will check your pulse rate and blood pressure and may even ask for various tests to check if your heart is damaged. If required you may have to undergo an electrocardiogram or echo-cardiogram check up as well. Women who have high blood pressure, diabetes, depression and high cholesterol are at higher risk of getting heart issues.

As per many scientific reports, mental stress is one of the major triggers of a heart attack. So being active, having healthy food and keeping mental stress at bay will help you stay clear from heart ailments.

Bottom line: If you suddenly feel pain in arms, shoulder, back, neck, chest or jaw or sweat profusely or feel heartburn or dizziness then you should immediately got to a doctor for treatment.
