Have a great equation with your boss? However THESE 10 things you should never say to your boss
Your boss and you may be tight but it’s essential to never forget that they are still your senior. Stop before you overstep the boundaries with your boss!
Today we spend most of our time at our work around our colleagues and superiors and juniors. Our work life is somewhat mixed up with our personal life. We share most of our time with people at work and they’re more our friends than our closest friends. We usually share our personal problems and stories with people at work. We discuss our personal lives with them. There’s a very thin line between our personal life and work life. Our superiors have become our friends and we sometimes forget where to draw the line. It’s important to compartmentalize and separate our lives from our work. Your boss may be your closest friend but there are some things that you need to separate from your work and maintain a certain decorum. It’s essential to maintain professionalism and have some work ethics. Don’t let the line between friend and boss blur too much because it could damage your work and affect your success much more than you’d expect. Here are some things that you should avoid telling your boss even if you are the best of friends.
1. Don’t share your religious beliefs or opinions about religions. Religion isn’t the ideal topic to discuss with your boss.

2. Political debates will only damage your relationship with your boss and hamper your success. Avoid making any sort of statement or conversation about politics.

3. It’s okay to request for a mental health day and take some time off to indulge in self-care and self-love but if you’re struggling with mental health issues it’s not the most ideal thing to discuss with your boss. It could hamper your chances of getting the promotion you’re aiming for because your boss thinks you’re unfit.

4. Don’t tell your boss how good or bad your previous job was. Don’t tell them how you did things there. It reflects on your character. You don’t want your boss thinking that you are a cribber or you complain all the time.

5. Your boss does not need to know what you did last night and how hungover you are. It shows incompetence.

6. Your boss also does not need to know who or how you did in bed last night. Keep your sex or love life to yourself. It’s inappropriate.

7. You may be tight and you might be trying to protect them or be honest to them but they do not need to hear the office gossip. They don’t need to know who said what about them behind their back.

8. If you are planning to switch jobs, they don’t need to know. Give an official notice when the time is right but they’re not the right person to discuss your doubts and plans with.

9. Don’t be a know-it-all. Don’t tell them how to do their job. You may have experience and knowledge but they are in that position for a reason.

10. Don’t tell them, “I told you so…”. People mess up and make mistakes or wrong choices. Feel free to say something along those lines when you are discussing your personal lives but on a professional level, they do not need to hear your “friendly” advice or tone in front of everyone.
