Are you finding it impossible to sleep without tossing and turning and struggling? Every time you get into bed sleep seems like a far-fetched thought and it just doesn’t seem to come your way. A lot of us desperately try to get just a little bit of sleep. It’s important for all of us to get some good quality sleep to survive. Not getting enough sleep can harm our body and mind. It can affect our cognitive abilities and make living very difficult. Inadequate sleep can affect your mood and memory as well. It’s essential to work towards ensuring that we get enough sleep. There are some bedtime hacks that we all need to apply in our lives.

1. Go for a walk and get your muscles working. A slight workout before bed will help your body feel exhausted and make you feel the need to get some shut-eye.

2. Avoid using your phone or laptop just before you fall asleep. A bright screen will dampen your chances of getting any sleep at all. Use tinted glasses or rather avoid using it altogether.

3. Listen to some relaxing sounds. Download apps that play relaxing sounds or listen to good calm music. Listening to good music can help your mind relax and stay calm. This helps you put your mind at ease and fall asleep.

4. A warm bath can raise your body’s temperature. When you get out of the bath and the temperature drops it makes you drowsy and tired. This can help you fall into a deep slumber.

5. The scent of lavender is known to help people fall asleep. Aromatherapy can calm your senses and help you sleep. Put a few drops of lavender essential oil on your bedsheets or pillow and off to sleep you go.

6. No one can sleep in bright light. Use a sleeping eye mask to protect your eyes from bright light.

7. Ensure that you have a comfortable mattress. Your mattress should not be too soft or too hard. It should be just perfectly comfortable.

8. Body temperature is what helps you fall asleep. A cold room helps you sleep like a little baby but remember to not have a too cool room because no one wants to sleep in a freezing room.

9. Avoid caffeine before you sleep. Try to drink warm milk or herbal tea before you sleep. A soothing beverage can help you fall asleep sooner than you can imagine.
