Do you love shopping? THESE are the 5 shopping etiquettes everyone should follow

None of us like navigating through crowded stores, comparing items before making a purchase or standing in queues, but that’s what a normal day of shopping looks like. Sometimes it feels as if the simplest, most ordinary, everyday task in life seems to require the most effort. Perhaps it’s due to our busy schedule, the overwhelming options to choose from and having to worry about the delicate work-life balance. Yet nonetheless that doesn’t call for a rude behaviour at any store. Every shop is a maze of customers and store employees so it is necessary that we are considerate of everyone. Remember that the other people at the store have dedicated their time and energy to go shopping, so you rather not make the experience unpleasant for anyone. Here are a few etiquettes you should always follow when you are out shopping.

1. Do not express annoyance while standing in a queue

Standing in a queue is nobody’s ideal way of spending their time but we all have to do it. Stand in an orderly manner in the queue and do not express annoyance at the cashier or customers ahead of you. Cutting the queue is a strict no-no too.

2. Do not forget your cash or card at home

Forgetting your money is not only embarrassing but you will also be holding up the queue unnecessarily. Many stores are unwilling to make purchases on credit, so being strapped for cash means you won’t be able to bring your shopping home. It’s a massive waste of your time too.

3. Do not be rude to people

Doesn’t matter if they are customers or employees, do not be rude to anyone. Ask politely for help or file a complaint in the suggestion box instead of creating a ruckus. Do not fight with other customers in a queue or when you both seem to land your hand on an item at the same time. Being polite goes a long way.

4. Read store signs carefully

Read store signs carefully since they inform you about discounts, offers, location of items and services etc. You won’t need any outside help as long as you can clearly follow store signs!

5. Don’t touch or squeeze items unnecessarily

If you don’t intend to make a purchase, your contact with the said item should be minimum. Be respectful of store orders if they stop you from touching certain items such as soft fruits, porcelain or glasswares. If you absolutely do have to touch, let an employee help you out.
