Everything we do in life has a little scope for improvement. But how does this improvement come your way? How do we learn from our mistakes and error of our ways? It’s not uncommon to come across a little bit of criticism every now and then. When we receive some constructive and positive criticism, we learn to fix the errors of our way. It teaches us where we’re going wrong. This criticism can be like a twang of hurt. It can come from anyone we know or work with but it does hurt. Criticism can hurt your self-respect and your pride. But what do you do when this criticism comes your way and it too hurtful to handle? How do you deal with this? You cannot stop or change what someone says but you can change your way of dealing with it. You cannot run away from criticism you just have to face it. But it’s important to face it the right way. Don’t let criticism damage you. Here are some great ways of dealing with it.

1. It’s important to listen to it. If you don’t listen you won’t know if the criticism coming your way is constructive or not. Just hear it.

2. Remain calm and respond calmly. Don’t jump to conclusions. You don’t have to respond immediately either. Thank the person and take some time and think about it.

3. Don’t take it to your heart. Don’t let negative criticism affect you and make you feel negative emotions. Don’t let it stress you out.

4. If you come across negative or false criticism, learn to ignore it. Don’t take it personally and don’t let it get to you.

5. Don’t get angry when you hear criticism. Take it with a pinch of salt. Understand that is not necessarily a bad thing.

6. Learn from it. Let criticism teach you the right way to go. If you are wrong, fix it. Fix your mistakes and errors. Let criticism be your teacher. If it’s right, apply it to your life.

7. Don’t overthink. Stop thinking about when and where and how it was said. Stop thinking about your pride and ego. Let it go. Think about how true or untrue the statement is and how it can impact your life.
