WHAT IS ACUTE STRESS DISORDER?

It is the most common type of stress faced by a lot of people. Acute stress arises when a person witnesses a traumatic event and that event has a strong emotional response within the individual. It is a short-term stress but can cause psychological effects. Acute stress can last from 3 to a period of 30 days. For instance, individuals who have been through traumatic events like rape, abuse, murder, death of a closed one etc. These events leave the individual in trauma. It is also the least damaging stress as it comes and goes away. It can also occur due to small situations like a test, interview or a phone call.
