Water is an elixir and one should drink it on a regular basis as 66% of our body weight is made of water. This is not all, each organ, tissue, and cell in the body works fine thanks to water. Right from lubricating your eyes, joints and tissues to getting rid of accumulated toxins to healthy skin, water is indeed of utmost importance if you want to be healthy.

But, because of too much work, we tend to drink less water and also, unfortunate events such as vomiting and diarrhea lead to loss of water thus leading to dehydration. Aside from these, sweating and diabetes are a few more reasons for loss of water which can lead to an electrolyte imbalance and the same can lead to severe health issues. Today we have listed out signs that show you have dehydration.

1. Headaches 
Whenever you feel light-headedness or throbbing sensation, then the same could be the reason for dehydration. 

2. Dry mouth, dry skin and bad breath
When our body is low on water, the amount of spit is also lowered. And the spit has anti-bacterial activity, so dry mouth can lead to bad breath as the development of bacteria is more. Dry skin and chapped lips are also a warning sign of dehydration. Skin, as we know, is the biggest organ of the body and it requires a good amount of liquid in the body to be in better condition. 

3. Constipation
When our body loses a lot of water (can be due to diarrhea or vomiting) the formation of stool can be an issue. Also, less amount of water can lead to acid reflux and heartburn.

4. Lethargy and concentration
Are you feeling lazy and lethargic? One of the reasons could dehydration as the same results in insufficient oxygen supply and that leads to fatigue.

5. Joint pain
Did you know joints and ligaments have 80% water in them? And that's why the body needs a decent amount of water to maintain them. When there is a lack of water, the bones start getting grinding to each other thus leading to pain.

6. You are hardly urinating
If you are not utilizing restrooms at regular intervals then you may be suffering from dehydration as the right amount of water intake usually leads to 4-7 times urination. For the unversed, regular urination is vital as along with pee, the body's toxins are also eliminated.

7. Constant food cravings
Whenever you have sudden food cravings, before ordering a snack, drink a glass of water as when you are dried up the body gives the same signals of thirst and hunger. We tend to mix it up and end up eating instead of drinking water.

One should make sure to drink the recommended amount of water on a daily basis. One can start the day with a glass of water and also make sure to drink liquids throughout the day. If you are forgetful then you can set a reminder. 

Along with water, also include water-rich foods in your diet. To prevent dehydration, one should avoid liquor and caffeinated beverages. Also, drink more liquids post physical activity, fever, diarrhea or vomiting among others.
