It’s difficult to live your life when you have some unfinished business from your past. How can you start something new when your previous work is unfinished? The same way relationships need a proper ending. We need to understand and accept the fact that relationships end. Sometimes things just don’t work out between two people or things just go wrong. It is not necessary for a relationship to have a happy ending or end in a marriage or last forever. Sometimes it’s just not meant to be.

Every break up isn’t smooth. Some break up are just so bad that it’s impossible to stay civil with your ex. You end up with so much hate and anger that it makes life difficult. Moving on becomes difficult. This is why closure is important. It is important to understand the reason why a relationship ended. Both the people in the relationship need to own up to their actions. This helps them move on from their past. This helps you heal from emotional pain and loss. Healing is an important part of moving on. Closure helps you forgive yourself and your partner. You cannot move on without baggage if you don’t forgive. Unresolved issues of your past will hamper your present. Hating your ex will never get you anywhere. You cannot be in a happy relationship with any other person if you have anger and hatred in your heart. It’s important to let the past go and shut that door in order to move on and be happy.

Closure can come in the form of a conversation where you can express your emotions and take responsibility for your actions. It’s important to give yourself and your partner time to grieve the relationship and keep the communication open. Allow yourself and them to discuss the shortcomings and ask questions. Be honest with each other during this time and maintain a civil relationship.
