International cuisines we'd love to see in India
India is home to a number of cuisines and has created a Desi version of them. Listed below are some international food fares we wish would come to India soon.
Though Indian cuisine is amongst the best in the world, other countries' foods have also been welcomed to India in a big way. Italian, American, Chinese and Thai cuisines are among those which have mixed so well in our culture that we have now have our own versions of these cuisines. However, there are some food cuisines which I would really want to see in our country. Not only because they are absolutely lip smacking, but also to see what our people would do to Indianise them. Here we go.
Moroccan
Moroccan cuisine is typically a mix of Arabic, Andalusian, Berber and Mediterranean cuisines with a slight European and Subsaharan influence. They use a large range of Mediterranean fruits and vegetables along with tropical ones. They use spices extensively. The best part is their use of red beef in the food.
Turkish
Turkish cuisine can be described as a fusion and refinement of Central Asian, Middle Eastern and Balkan cuisines. They make lighter use of spices and have a preference for rice. Fish and olive oil are used extensively in cooking. The most wonderful dish they make is called Kurufasulye, a dish made of beans.
Vietnamese
Vietnamese cuisine encompasses the foods and beverages of Vietnam and features a combination of five fundamental tastes. Each Vietnamese dish has a distinctive flavour which reflects one or more of these elements. They make great use of lemongrass, ginger, mint, long coriander, Saigon cinnamon, bird's eye chilli, lime, and Thai basil leaves.
Greek
Contemporary Greek cookery makes wide use of vegetables, olive oil, grains, fish, wine, and all kinds of meat. Its flavours change with seasons and geography. The predominant ingredient is olive, as oil or raw. The most well-known dish is the Moussaka, a creamy layered dish.
Cuban
Cuban cuisine is a blend of Native American Taino food, Spanish, African, and Caribbean cuisines. They derive a lot of influence from the food of Spain. A contributing factor to Cuban cuisine is that Cuba is in a tropical climate, which produces fruits and root vegetables that are used in Cuban dishes and meals.
Burmese
Burmese cuisine is characterised by extensive use of fish products like fish sauce and ngapi (fermented seafood). Some of the main ingredients are starches like rice, wheat and rice noodles, glass noodles and vermicelli, to potato, ginger, tomato, kaffir lime, long bean, pickled tea leaves, and fish paste.
We really wish that some restaurateurs read this and bring to us these cuisines in India! Meanwhile, comment and tell us which cuisines you want to see here.
