The lighting trends that are set to illuminate 2021 with expert tips from Sandeep Shukla

Lighting is the critical element that breaks the tie in a win-or-bust home décor scenario. From setting the mood to making space appear larger or smaller as the need may be, lighting is that crucial element in home décor that often finds the least budget allocation. 2021 brings with it a fresh perspective on everything around us. Why not examine the latest trends in the lighting space that might help you add some creative nuance to your home?

Find out the lighting trends to follow this year based on expert advice from Sandeep Shukla, Head Marketing and Communication - Global operations, Jaquar Group.

1. Keep it warm

Warm light options have been seeing a gradual surge in demand. In 2021 too, we see this tone of illumination finding preference. Gradations in warm or yellow light options range from a warm dim to a warm glow, especially when using LED, making this a perfect option to balance mood-lighting and functional illumination. Consumers who want multiple warm accents from a warm light can opt for a dimmer to get multi-functionality out of the same product. Table lamps in warm tones can also help build interesting silhouettes in underutilized corners giving the room an interesting dimension.

2. The growing need for light scenarios

An option that continues to grow and to become increasingly relevant with each passing year is the tech-enabled home lighting environment. Lighting scenarios make it possible to control multiple lights and their intensity through mobile applications. This lends itself to not just making homes ‘smart’ and intuitive but also easy to control. Light scenarios eliminate the need to walk up to control panels or switchboards to change lights if you want to move from reading a book to watching a movie from the same comfy spot on your couch. Most smart lights like the Jaquar Vivid come with a colour palette to choose from and several possibilities with regards to colour temperature and brightness.

3. Gold tones

Vintage appeal with modern reinterpretations is the way to go choosing wall and ceiling lights in 2021. Brass fixtures and or gold finishes are in. Their modern structural designs act as a statement piece when used over dining tables or the centrepieces in a drawing room while also adding a touch of glamour that goes a long way in keeping the décor looking resplendent.

4. Bold colours

Monochrome décor themes do have their own appeal. However, with an increasing shift towards minimalism in home décor, consumers look to add colour and drama to their interiors with the use of bright painted finishes when it comes to lights.

5. Portable lamps

Multi-functionality prevails when it comes to choosing desk/table lighting options. As we spend more and more time at home, these simple additions don’t just address the need to light up dark spots around the house to make them functional, but being wireless can be carried from room to room.

6. Facade lighting

When looking at doing justice to your home décor, we see a larger interest in consumers looking for durable and dramatic options to light up the exterior as they do interiors. We see this trend growing in 2021. There are several options available in this lighting segment that can add a touch of 3D elegance or drama to your home exterior or doorway – whatever your preference maybe.
