Summers are harsh. The extreme heat and dry spells can make it hard on us. The sun sucks out all of our energy and dries up our skin which is why we need maximum care and protection from it. The ultraviolet rays of the sun easily make us feel all hot and sweaty and it’s no fun at all. But many of us enjoy getting a good old tan. The ultraviolet rays may not be as good for your skin as you think. Though we all need some vitamin D, too much harsh sunlight can increase the risks of skin cancer. UV radiation is one of the major reasons behind cancer. This is why it is essential that we take precaution in order to prevent a disease like cancer and protect our skin. Here are some ways you can protect your skin and prevent the risk of cancer.

1. Clothes

Keep your skin covered and protected from the harsh rays of the sun. Try to keep your arms and legs covered by wearing full sleeves and reduce the exposure to the ultraviolet rays. Try wearing a hat with a wide brim, that helps cover up your face and your neck.

2. Sunscreen

Sunscreen may not do much benefit alone but skipping out on using a good sunscreen with a good SPF may mean that your skin is at the risk of skin cancer. In order to reduce this risk, it is essential that you wear sunscreen because it also saves you from going through the trouble of tanning and sunburn.

3. Sunglasses

Skin isn’t only on your body and face, your eyes also have a little bit of skin around them and our eyes are an important part of our lives. Without them we’d go blind and they too need protection from the UV rays. A pair of good sunglasses can protect your eyes and your skin.

4. Tanning beds

Getting a fake tan or using a tanning bed can be dangerous for you and your skin. These fake tanning beds contain much more radiations than sunlight and this artificial radiation can turn out to be a big risk.

5. Dermatologists

Regular visits to a dermatologist for a regular check-ups of your skin is a very good thing. Not doing so may make it difficult to spot it but checking in with your doctor may save your skin, literally.
