Top Summer Trends: Upgrade your home with these 5 styles

If you’re living in India, there’s just no escaping the heat around this time and mind you, this is only the tip of the iceberg. With the blistering heat getting on most of our nerves, sometimes, even something as simple as a thicker bedsheet or a velvety cushion cover can get us all riled up and irritated on coming in contact with our skin… don’t you relate? Rugs are rolled up and kept away until winter and the bare necessities are what we like to keep out on display. Well, for those who perpetuate alluring interiors even through this season and begin to feel unsettled when your home starts to lose its spunk, we’ve got just the right thing for you!

While you can do away with darker shades for your upholstery, what you can add this season, is a wee bit of shimmer!  This trend works exceptionally well for those with a feminine, playful style and can instantly upgrade any room. Introducing a single cushion with a shimmery cover amongst the other cushions on your sofa set or even on your bed or an attractive table runner is a great way to begin.

Tip: Make sure not to over do it and to avoid fabrics with a rough texture.

Mirror, mirror on the wall

A popular home trend (and rightfully so) - mirrors and the use of glass indoors, is something we urge you to try. Especially if the space you’re designing is a small one, mirrors on the wall will help make the space look bigger, as well as amp up the glam factor. Mirrors with intricate frames are high on the style quotient and set off any space that seems to be dull and boring.

Tip: A focus light from below or on top of the mirror will make a huge difference and of course, brighten up the place.

Though white drapes are undoubtedly high maintenance, there’s no denying that when you return home after spending some time in the scorching sun, the sight of these light coloured drapes will soothe your eyes and calm your soul. Also, white is so versatile and can look great against almost every piece of furniture. It brightens up the place and radiates a positive vibe.

Tip: Adding a sheer printed curtain between two white ones will spice things up and add a chic element.

The greenhouse effect

Pantone colour of the year - Greenery, is all about imbibing nature into different aspects of fashion and lifestyle. Greenery represents freshness, calmness, happiness and positivity and who doesn't want to incorporate that in their homes? If you’re aiming for a contemporary feel, cacti in various green shades are the way to go. For a more classic feel, stick to luscious green over-sized leaf plants that can be placed in attractive zinc pots. A dash of greenery anywhere, be it the washroom, the bedroom or the living room, is a fabulous idea this summer and you will surely be at the top of the style game as well.

Tip: Experiment with metallic flower pots and vases and if the plants you buy are real, don’t forget to water them!

While florals for spring/summer is not exactly groundbreaking, it still stands as a key component of the outdoorsy trend this season. From lounge chairs to lampshades and from bedsheets to centrepieces, adding a touch of florals is sure to bring about some decor magic!

Tip: With a bunch of lush florals placed in a chinoiserie vase, you can achieve an interesting look in your living room. Trendy, global and super stylish!
