Are you bored and hungry at home and craving something warm, comforting and easy to make? Then coconut tart is the perfect dish for you. It is quick to cook and can be made with easily available ingredients like butter, all-purpose flour, egg and of course, coconut. 

To get the most delicious and scrumptious coconut tart with just the right texture and flavour, it is best to use freshly grated coconut and not desiccated coconut. So here is a simple 5 step recipe to make a delectable coconut tart at home.

Step 1

Mix 150 grams of butter cut into cubes, 30 grams of sugar and 250 grams of all-purpose flour in a bowl. To this add 1 egg yolk and a pinch of salt. Knead the dough and refrigerate. 

Step 2

In another bowl, mix 2 eggs, 200 grams of sugar and 50 grams of coconut milk. To this add, 30 grams of fresh milk, 50 grams of butter and 300 grams of grated coconut. Mix well.

Step 3

Take the tart moulds and line them with the prepared dough for the pastry. Bake at 180 degree celsius for 15 minutes till they turn golden brown. 

Step 4

Pour the prepared coconut mixture into the baked tart shells and leave about 1 mm of a gap between the filling and the shell to avoid overfilling.

Step 5

Bake for 30 minutes and let the tarts cool down for 15 minutes after taking them out from the oven. Carefully unmould the tarts and serve.
