Haute couture to haute cuisine: Gucci ventures into the hospitality industry, opens Fine Dining Restaurant

The moment the Gucci designs were revealed on the runways of coveted Fashion weeks, it was fated to be a hit! The big branding logo designs, the fur trim mules, the bags, the double G belt and the floral dresses have proven to be such a success that celebrities cannot seem to get enough of it. From Arjun Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karan Johar to Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut they have all gone gaga over Gucci.

Well, here is something more for all you Gucci loyalists, the luxury label is stretching from haute couture to haute cuisine. Gucci recently opened a 50-seat restaurant called "Gucci Osteria" in Florence, Italy. "Gucci Osteria" will have three-Michelin-star chef Massimo Bottura will serve up high-end dishes.

Gucci is not the only luxury fashion label to venture into food, LVMH recently announced that it would open a second branch of it's gourmet grocer La Grande Epicerie in Paris. Tiffany's & Co too opened its Blue Box Café in New York, looks like "breakfast at Tiffany's" can actually be a thing now.

The Gucci restaurant is sited behind the walls of the 14th century Palazzo della Mercanzia building, overlooking the city's most famous square, Piazza della Signoria. The menu will have dishes such as Parmigiano Reggiano tortellini, Peruvian-inspired tostadas, pork belly buns and mushroom risotto for €20 to €30 euros per dish.

The restaurant also includes a store selling exclusive Gucci products. If you are a fashionista it’s the place to be: flamboyant colours of green-hued walls, dense and theatrical blue turquoise velvet seats, high tufted banquette, teal velvet upholstery and a palette of colours that reminds the collections of Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele.
