1. STRIPES

Stripes are magical and ever so classic. They look chic and classic and if worn right. They can slim you down or make you look taller. But this fall is not about your boring stripes - they are joining rare colours, diverse proportions and textures for an original take this time. There's plenty of asymmetries, patchwork and contrasting.

2. CONCEPTUAL TAILORING

Abstract tailoring is significant for A/W 16. The more you can tie, wrap, loop, fasten and scrunch your tops, trousers, coats, jackets and trousers; the better.

3. VELVET

This season you will find velvet in everything! From blazers to thigh-high boots. They are no longer just an evening wear fabric in darker colours. Wear your velvet in brighter hues and modern designs. Pair it with metallic jewellery to finish the look.

4. CORSETS

While last season was all about wearing your slip dresses, this season has taken the “inside out” trend up a notch. Corsets worn over dresses and tops are all the rage. Corsets quite literally cinch a look together.

5. MILITARY

From camo-print, hues of green, medallions as accessories to spruced up shoulders and badges, Military is an enormous trend.

6. WIDE-LEGGED TROUSERS

Fashion’s love for the wide legged trousers is never ending. Though it is a breezier and more summertime appropriate style, worn in heavier and classier fabrics with layers of blazers and coats, it perfectly ties the whole look together.

7. BUTTERSCOTCH

The Colour of the season is an elegant butterscotch, shades of camel and yellow browns that make for a sophisticated look.

8. THE SWEETHEART NECKLINE

The cold shoulder and off shoulder trends were huge last season and the trend of showing off your sexy collar bones still continues through the sweetheart neckline. So embrace it and show off that décolletage!
