Taylor Swift, JLo and all the other best-dressed celebs from the AMA 2018
Lady Gaga, nobody does eccentric dressing quite like you. You were thoroughly missed at the AMA 2018
Okay, so the AMAs happened and although I have very little inclination (read: none at all) towards music of any sort (except, maybe, EDM these days like all the other cool kidz) I kept a thorough tab on the red carpet to find my sartorial standpoint for the party season, which, despite being full two months away requires a lot of planning and, mainly, budget allocation.
Sure, a few outfits gave me enough scaries to pass off as the perfect Halloween costumes, too (like Cardi B’s D&G dress which would’ve looked perfect if worn to a corpse bride party). But most, if not all, were chic enough to guarantee eyeball-grabbing attention if you did wish to recreate them.
From Jennifer Lopez to Taylor Swift to Dua Lipa, see which stars made our best-dressed list.
Taylor Swift

I could not, not put Taylor in her shiny-disco-ball-esque Balmain mini-dress and matching boots (them boots, tho!) on my list. Although my colleagues disagree and quip that her style has gone stale over the years (in their defence, she did wear something like this before), she managed to look super chic.
Camila Cabello

I have seen this lyric-churning-machine wear (and nail) one too many experimental looks in the past. Which is why, it came as a shocker when she decided to settle for this jewel-encrusted bustier top (that didn’t even show a teeny bit of midriff) and matching pants. There’s no denying she looked good, tho.
Jennifer Lopez

Perhaps the most nakedest dress of AMAs? Although this pink Georges Chakra dress has got nothing on JLo’s green Versace one, it still qualifies as pretty naked. Plunging neckline, cutouts on the sides, and that unmissable thigh-high slit. What's not to love?
Dua Lipa

Giving her trademark neons and street style inspired demi couture a pass, Dua Lipa settled for this pristine white mermaid-fit dress, which, gave my GCDS-loving soul a fright, the nice kinda scare, tho. Everything about this old world, Hollywood charm-channelling dress left me feeling rather nice. Where are em’ butterflies?
Ella Mai

Love a woman wearing pants ? Me, too. No wonder Ella Mai’s teal pantsuit made it to our list.
Tracee Ellis Ross

Speaking of a woman who wears the pants, how amazing does Tracee Ellis Ross look in that Pyer Moss pantsuit? While we’re at it, pairing crystal-studded chokers with a mannish outfit seems to be my new favourite trend.
Vanessa Hudgens

The powder pink slip dress with plunging neckline is parts chic parts minimalist and overall amazing. Works!
Halsey

Can we please discuss how cool it looks to match your hair with your dress? As far as the asymmetric hemline dress by the Italian brand, Redemption, is concerned, it gets a thumbs up from me. And although the spiral strap shoes trend is done, dusted and buried already (did you know Rihanna practically heralded it?), I’ll take it.
Amber Heard

Once again, making a strong case for a thigh-high slit is Amber Heard in this golden bustier gown by designer duo Ralph & Russo. One of the most romantic looks of the evening.
Ciara

Although Ciara looked amazing in her collared,hardware-installed mini dress which she wore with the most chic strappy sandals, I think her son, Future Jr., stole the show. He was quite a star in his red and black checkered Gucci blazer against his plain white tee. Before you let out that well-deserved awww, do take a look at his tiny Gucci sneakers, too. Future street style star, you guys.
I know that we’re not usually discussing men’s wardrobe. But, can we please take a moment and appreciate The Chainsmoker duo, Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall? How dandy are they looking in the blue marble-effect blazer and plain matching set? Also, what do you think of Alex’s blue suede shoes cuz I’m totally digging it.
