Single tone dressing was BIG this year. Deepika, Priyanka and other actresses show you how to pull it off

Dressing in a single colour from head-to-toe is an art. It is not easy to carry off and can look tacky if not styled well. But if styled correctly, it can look chic and sophisticated and might even look red-carpet worthy! 

Mixing patterns tend to look fussy and crowded, which is where same-tone dressing comes into play. Wearing the same shade from head-to-toe can look as bold as patterns do. They also look more contemporary and can be re-used by mixing them up with other solid colours, making them classic pieces! Whether it is all white or black, or a neutral ensemble, this style of dressing also offers a great deal of visual relief that comes from the frenzy of patterns like florals and animal prints. 

Anushka Sharma is a big fan of this trend and knows how to pair it well. She looks sharp and put together in these single-toned outfits. All her outfits have riot of layers in the same shade and give her a fuss-free classy look.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, the Begum of Bollywood is also on the bandwagon with this trend. She has mastered this trend with some suave cuts that make her look chic. She looks effortlessly chic in this single off-shouldered red on red outfit and perfectly breaks the monotony with a pair of floral yellow stiletto pumps. 

Diana Penty makes a simple outfit like this suit look much more sophisticated by making sure every element is the same shade and is well tailored to her fit. Lush pink heels that give a break to the maroon shade, and no accessories, completed her look. 

Not too late to get on the bandwagon, Deepika Padukone also sported this look by making it perfect for winters. Pairing skirts with same-toned sweaters, is how she rolls. She shows us that carrying off this look is not as difficult as it seems if you keep the look minimal and pair your accessories with neutral shades or even shades that match your outfit. 

Priyanka Chopra is not one to shy away from trying out a new trend. If only we looked as good as she does in the bright lemon yellow shade! Her fitted outfits with cuts showed off her toned body and long legs. She clearly loves this trend and prefers to break the monotony by pairing her outfit with neutral coloured shoes and a matching bag. 

Her boldest move yet? The co-ord red striped outfit paired with a matching red trench coat, which made her look like a rule-breaker. 

If you are weary of the trend, pick a more muted hue for a very subtle impact. Experiment with shape and volume and take lessons from our favourite stars and mix casual and dressier pieces together.
