Sania Mirza kickstarted the nose ring trend but didn’t take it seriously until THIS happened; find out
Sania said that her main focus has always been tennis and everything just went along with it.
India has always been a land where women are both celebrated and unfortunately pulled down. In this state of perplexity it becomes very difficult for a woman to stand up and create her own sky and ground on her own terms. Sports in our country always belonged to men, however, today we have an equal number of women participating and clinching the gold as the other gender. Sania Mirza has to be credited as one of the first ones who stepped out and followed her passion. She made tennis a sport which women can resonate and connect with.
Mirza’s journey however, wasn’t a bed of roses. It came in with rough waters and one that could have been extremely hard for anyone to take on. The 33 year old was on a two year maternity leave, basking in the happiness of motherhood. Apart from being a phenomenal player, Sania also went onto becoming an effortless fashion icon. When she first started playing there was a huge uproar from her community who criticised her for wearing a mini skirt while playing tennis. The powerhouse of talent never shied away from giving it back to trolls and becoming into an inspiration for a lot of young girls to follow.

In a conversation with India Today revealed that she does not really understand fashion. She said that she feels lucky to have a team which makes her look stunning and for taking care of her style quotient. Sania said that her main focus has always been tennis and everything just went along with it.
The mother of one also revealed how she doesn’t understand fashion at all but she does like it. She credited her team saying, “I'm very lucky to have a good team around me where I'm just like okay I have to go for a show called Inspirations so they'll be like okay here take this jacket and i'll be like great! (laughs) so that's how it works.”

When Sania came in the public glare, her nose ring had become a talking point with a lot of young girls sporting the trend. To this Sania replied saying that wearing a nose ring in their culture was extremely common and something which most girls did. She also said that even her mother wears a nose ring so she didn't think that she was bringing anything new to the table. Elaborating over this she said that it is only when she has gone for a ceremony for children with special needs that she realised that the nose ring was such a huge deal. Over there the translator kept doing the nose ring action which Sania didn’t really understand. It is only when the translator walked up to her and told her that in the sign language the nose ring meant Sania Mirza was when she realised the impact of it.
Needless to say, Sania Mirza is an inspiration for many. A dotting Indian, hands on mother, caring wife and a living icon.
