Runway Report: Ritu Kumar at LFW 2017
Ritu Kumar presented her collection at Lakmé Fashion Week – Winter/Festive 2017. The collection was fresh, feminine, current and certainly struck a chord with the young and chic. With the colour palette varied from hues of pinks, pastels shades such as mint green, powder to fresh colours such as tropical green, sea blue and browns.
The collection played with tulles, frills, ruffles and flounce with midi skirts, frilled pants, exaggerated sleeves and the bardot neckline still going strong.
The young and vibrant Bollywood actress Disha Patani was the showstopper for Ritu Kumar and she walked down the ramp in a sheer ivory dress with floral applique. The sheer overlay had an asymmetrical hem along with a strapless neckline that had a criss cross detail in the front. While the dress was fine the net stockings were an overkill for this showstopper look.
The stage was set and while we all beheld our breaths for the legendary Ritu Kumar to drop her Autumn Winter 2017 Collection, but we felt like we were in the wrong season altogether, from tropical prints to flounce and frilly skirts, the collection looked summer and resort ready and lacked a sense of newness.
