It is extremely overwhelming to see the fashion industry finally embracing women as they are. Thankfully, we are moving into a space which is way more accepting of our individuality rather than housing us into the hollow domes of our society’s perception of “beauty”. Be it slamming Victoria’s Secret for painting a farce idea of the “ideal beauty standards” or applauding Rihanna’s all inclusive brand, Fenty - the World right now is tilting towards the concept of “self love”.

For years together, our heads are being hammered with the ideology that skinny is pretty. People on the heavier side are made fun of mercilessly, so much so that they start having major doubts about their own existence. Now taking a road back home, a new controversy has found the light of the day, one which has managed to rake up major backlash.

Recently, designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock showcased their bridal collection in New Delhi for which Sara Ali Khan made a stunning runway debut. During an interview with Good Times, Falguni was asked what advice she would give plus size brides when they are picking out their clothes. Bam came the answer, “I won't blatantly tell her to lose weight, but you have enough time and you can work on yourself. It is pretty easy to lose a couple of inches if you want to.”

Further on, when the interviewer asked her what if a bride is unable to lose weight, what advice would she give them then? “Long blouses, more flared lehengas and not fitted because fitted won't really work when you’re a little big. No deep necks for them maybe more higher,” stated Peacock. The video has now been taken down, but it clearly didn’t settle well with a lot of people.

One of India’s favourite bridal designers, Sabyasachi launched Charbagh yesterday, his winter 2019 bridal collection and blew our minds once again. The all inclusive collection featured a stunningly gorgeous dusky plus size model who wore beautiful deep necks and broke all the existing myths enveloping the body type. Instagram giant Diet Sabya took to their photo sharing account and shared a picture of a plus size model from Sabyasachi’s latest collection to call out Falguni. The anonymous account captioned the photo “Sorry but did @falgunipeacock say ‘no deep necks’ for plus-size brides? Here’s your answer…”
