National Handloom Day 2019: Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor & others show us how to rock traditional weaves

The traditional Indian saree has been an epitome of elegance and feminity and there’s no denying that! Sarees have been worn for decades, more so, since centuries and it has always been the go-to attire for any and every occasion. National Handloom day is one such day where we celebrate this heritage and acknowledge the traditional method of weaving. While traditional sarees have been a popular classic, our B-Town divas have given it their own twist with the styling. We look back at all the stunning ways our B-Town celebrities have rocked the traditional weaves in style.

DEEPIKA PADUKONE

Deepika Padukone clearly has her favourites when it comes down to sarees. Traditional silks and Kajeevarams have been her go-to for years. So much so, that she even wore a gorgeous gold one at her own wedding reception. Raw Mango and Sabyasachi are her go-to when it comes down to picking up a drape.

KAREENA KAPOOR KHAN

Kareena Kapoor Khan loves her traditional woven outfits. Well, she is the Pataudi Begum and it is always a treat for our eyes to see her in traditional outfits. While she has been loving her sarees, she wore the woven wonder as a lehenga and boy were we impressed!

PRIYANKA CHOPRA

No matter how much Priyanka travels the world, she has always been true to her roots. Her saree collection is proof of that as she opted for a stunning saree from her wardrobe while she attended an event in 2018.

SONAM KAPOOR

The fashionista, Sonam Kapoor has always been on top of her fashion game. While sarees have been a statement on its own, Sonam rocked it in a rather unusual manner. Silver jewellery and a long baggy blouse was her way of styling the drape.

AISHWARYA RAI BACHCHAN

The veteran has been rocking some of the most stunning drapes for years now. Her Sabyasachi saree has stolen many hearts. Red has clearly been her favourite colour and there’s enough proof of that!

KANGANA RANAUT

Kangana took the traditional weave International and boy did she rock it! She styled the gold Kanjeevaram with a gorgeous corset and added her own twist with long gloves. 

ANUSHKA SHARMA

Anushka rarely opts for a traditional woven drape but when she does, she makes sure to look ethereal. She styled her saree with a statement necklace and gajra in true Indian sense.

VIDYA BALAN

Vidya has proved that sarees are her favourite as she has been seen rocking them at almost every occasion. Her way to styling the drape is by opting for contrasting blouses.
