With all the supreme and creme luxury fashion houses riding their way through their many firsts, Lacoste has jumped right in and joined the bandwagon. The French clothing company on Friday made the big announcement that Louise Trotter, British Fashion Designer will be the brand’s new Creative Director. This news is huge for the fashion industry and more so for Lacoste as Louise will be the brand’s first ever female director in its illustrious 85-year-old journey.

Trotter will be replacing Lacoste’s previous Creative Director, Felipe Oliveira Baptista. He served 8 years to the company before finally putting down his papers in May earlier this year. Whereas, Louise, on the other hand, was the Creative Director at Joseph, a contemporary brand for a whole good eight years. In an interview with Business of Fashion, she shared her excitement saying, “I am delighted to join this French brand with such a unique heritage. For 85 years, the modernity of the Lacoste style lies in this singular fusion of sport and fashion. I am proud to contribute to the writing of a new chapter in its history."

Louise Trotter will be making her debut for the brand at the Paris Fashion Week for Fall 2019. According to Lacoste, she is someone who plays around with lines and materials and her area of expertise lies in creating highly technical pieces, this is a major reason why they feel that she fits the bill perfectly.

Louise sure does sync in well with the brand’s ideologies so it’ll be interesting to see how her stint will be at Lacoste. We’ll have to wait to find out.
