Fendi announces couture show to pay tribute to legend Karl Lagerfeld
Lagerfeld who passed away earlier this year worked as the Creative Director for Fendi for 54 years. The brand is set to pay homage to the legend by stating a couture show in his memory.
Fendi’s last Autumn/Winter 2019 show presented the last of Lagerfeld’s designs for the brand. The notes provided at this show said that it was one that was celebrating the brand’s relationship with the late icon and described it as “Fashion’s longest love story, one that will continue to touch our lives for years to come.”
To commemorate the icon, Fendi is all set to stage a catwalk show on July 4 in Rome. The last Fendi show in Rome was held to celebrate the brand’s 90th anniversary. According to sources, though the time and location in Rome are yet to be confirmed but it will most likely happen at the Trevi Fountain, which Fendi helped restore. The work will be in collaboration with Silvia Venturini Fendi who reportedly met Karl Lagerfeld when she was only five years of age, and grew up with him. He became her family and mentor and taught her to head the house.
The brand though, has not announced a successor post Lagerfeld’s death, unlike Chanel.

Karl Lagerfeld was the creative director at Chanel for over 30 years. Post his passing, The brand announced that Virginie Viard would succeed as Creative Director and take the reigns.
Post his passing, the world of fashion grieved. Everybody from supermodels and actresses to luxury fashion houses mourned the loss of the legend. Many brought forward that his ideologies were patriarchal and problematic, but his revolutionary work in fashion was not questioned.
