EXCLUSIVE: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s stylist Aastha Sharma picks her top 5 Cannes red carpet looks

The madness about and around the Cannes Film Festival is justified and is growing exponentially with every passing day. The illustrious event which commenced on May 14th saw many big-wheels turning up for the gala event. The cream of Bollywood also showed up marking their presence. However, the flagbearer of Cannes in the years gone by and the years to come will always be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Yes! Touted as the “most beautiful woman in the world”, Aish has made sure that she glides down the red carpet at Cannes every year. This place has also been extremely special for her for very many reasons. It also happens to be the place where she found out that she was expecting Aaradhya. The beauty will be flying out tonight and just like every year we are sure that she will be blowing us over with her dramatic, poised and enchanting looks.

Pinkvilla exclusively interviewed the genius behind Rai Bachchan’s spectacular looks, celebrity stylist, Aastha Sharma. This year will be Aastha’s 5th year at Cannes and going by what we’ve seen in the past few years we are sure that this year is going to be grander and most lustrous.

We asked the powerhouse of talent to pick her favourite 5 Cannes looks which she has styled Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in.

Aastha in a typical echoes the words of a fashion geek and says, "Cannes being the hotbed of fashion, Aishwarya makes sure that she is a sight in her swoon worthy looks, each time.”

Look 1

Sharma pick up her first look which dates back to 2015. She says, “Considering 2015 was my first year of Cannes with her, I wanted it to be downright gorgeous. And the carpet look from Ralph & Russo, downright gorgeous it was, I’m glad!

When brainstorming for the look, I wanted to give her something dramatic yet glam. Hence choosing the ruffles, neutral lip, smokey eyes.”

Look 2

“In 2016, it was a classic from Elie Saab, a look that screamed old Hollywood glamour, vintage style waves and merlot lip.”

Look 3

This one has to be Aishwarya best look on any red carpet so far which also happens to be the stylist’s favourite look too. “The frosty princess look on Aishwarya is my most favourite so far. On the myriad red carpet of Cannes 2017, we knew she was the never ending glamour, Michael Cinco,” she added.

Moving on, she further picks her fourth favourite look, one which every nicknamed as the “butterfly look”. She said,“Decoding another stunning look from Michael Cinco in 2018, we did an ultra violet number with an awe striking trail, bold red lips, sleek hair. That look was big on bold and high on glam.”

Look 5

Finally concluding her final pick she picked another look which was all about drama. “Adding to the list of favourites is this shimmery block gown by Rami Kadi. I wanted to keep the drama to the silhouette, yet keeping the look strong and fierce. We decided to do sculpted top knot, fresh makeup and kohled eyes," she concluded.

TBH, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is definitely the queen of Cannes red carpet. Also, given the amazing looks Aastha brings to us, we just can’t wait to see what’s in store for us this year.
