The event, FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), very aptly titled “Finding Beauty in Imperfection”, with Anna Chandy in conversation with Deepika Padukone. Anna Chandy Chairperson of Deepika Padukone’s ‘The Live Love Laugh Foundation’, who stood by Deepika’ s side while she battled with her mental health as her therapist, as her guide and as her mentor.
During the event, the actress spoke about how she and her parents coped with her being diagnosed with depression. She said, “Coping with mental illness affects both the individuals and members of their immediate family. There was not much information available where I could learn and equip myself to be of help. There were times when I felt helpless. Fortunately for us, my mother realized something was wrong. We then approached a counsellor who is also a very close family friend and things worked out.”
Earlier she also said that she constantly fears a relapse. She said that there is always a fear at the back of her mind that she might have a relapse because it has been such a bad experience for her.
