Sarees have been for years together being the classiest and sexiest invention of clothing. It defines elegance, grace and sophistication. It is often said that an Indian woman looks the best in this six yards of gorgeousness and believe us, we couldn’t have agreed to it more. Who could have imagined that just a piece of cloth can create magic like no other? This form of clothing has literally become an identity for us and our country in the International circuit.

Bollywood is the pioneer and the face of fashion in our country. They are the connecting bridge between runway fashion and high street styles. Given their regular appearances at the International red carpets, it is often heart-warming to see them sport the ‘saree’ amd represent our culture and country. From Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Priyanka Chopra Jonas to Deepika Padukone to Sonam K Ahuja, to name a few are celebrities who took the drapes international.

Needless to say, there are way too many options available for one to choose. However, given our love for the ever-growing 90s, it seems like our B’Town actresses have taken a key inspiration from the happening decade’s love for monotone sarees. Remember the iconic yellow saree which Raveena Tandon wore in Tip Top Barsa Paani? Or Kajol in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai? Well, all of that is certainly coming back and Bollywood seems too gung-ho about it. Listed below are actresses who’ve taken a fancy towards the monotone sarees.

Deepika Padukone

The one who through her own confession, loves saree. Taking the 90s trend a bit further is Padukone who clubbed it with avant-garde retro fashion. Style your yellow saree with a high neck blouse with bouffant sleeves. We love how she has opted for her signature sleek hairdo and those over-sized glasses.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Who says monotone sarees only sync up with plain sarees? If you’re in the mood to jazz up a bit then opt for a chikankari sequins saree like Priyanka with a matching blouse. You can literally do wonders with the blouse. Either opt for cap sleeves, single strap or a halter neck, all would look absolutely gorgeous.

Sonam K Ahuja

As we mentioned earlier, the blouse can literally change up the way the saree looks. Sonam K Ahuja took her red concept saree and teamed it with a high neck, full sleeves, zipper crop top like blouse. The look sure does have a lot of modernity to it and we liked how she teamed the oxidised earrings with it.

Janhvi Kapoor

This look was all about the fire for sure. Janhvi Kapoor showed us that less is always more. We love the simplicity of her look. The white georgette saree oozes out elegance and it sure does make her look extremely hot. We love the minimal use of jewellery and the makeup too was on point.

Tara Sutaria

Tara Sutaria made heads turn as she stepped out for the Diwali party. The actress looked drop dead gorgeous in a heavily sequin saree with a same hue satin bralette blouse. If you’re wanting to bring in some texture to the outfit then this look is absolutely perfect for you.

Parineeti Chopra

Wanting to jazz up your outfit with a bit of texture and ooze out sexiness? Take a cue from Parineeti Chopra. The stunner literally broke the internet with her choice of saree. The lace automatically lifts the look and the blouse compliments it beautifully.

Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha at the trailer launch of Dabbang 2 was nothing short of a sight. The diva looked magnificent in a light off-white saree with a matching blouse. What was interesting about her monotone saree was the high neck cape which she chose to pair it with. The sleek hairdo further enhanced her over all look.

Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut literally swears by sarees for most of her airport looks. The diva in particular fancies a cotton handloom saree and makes it look extremely chic and modern. If you want to go simple yet make a statement then opt for a cream cotton saree with a light golden border and pair it with a thin strip blouse.

Sarees are definitely never going out of vogue and with the ever evolving and changing styles we are falling in love with this drape all the more. Are you loving this latest trend? Comment below and let us know.
