Carolina Herrera steps down as creative director at her namesake brand
Wes Gordon will be stepping up and taking charge as the new creative director
Fashion giant, designer, Carolina Herrera is stepping down as the fashion house’s creative director. The Venezuelan fashion designer has designed many powerful First ladies like Michelle Obama, Melania Trump, Laura Bush and Jacqueline Onassis. However, the creative director has decided to step down from her post after heralding the fashion years for over 37 years.
Monday, February 12, 18, Carolina will be showcasing her final collection at the ongoing New York Fashion Week as the creative director of the fashion house. Wes Gordon will be stepping up and taking charge as the new creative director.
Carolina in an interview said, “"Just don’t say I am retiring, I am not retiring! I am moving forward.” She will be taking on the position of the “Global Brand Ambassador”, she will not be designing collections but will continue to work closely with the house, attending store openings and events.
"I am thrilled with the evolution of the company over the past 37 years…There is still so much opportunity and I look forward to continuing to represent this house and our projects all around the world. I am so pleased Wes is now part of the Herrera house—he’s the right one for this position to further build on our great momentum," Herrera said in a statement from the brand.
