Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife Sophie Grégoire wore THIS Indian designer for her India visit
Canada's first lady, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife Sophie Grégoire picks an Anita Dongre outfit for her India visit
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in India on an official visit. The Prime Minister is accompanied by wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau and children Ella-Grace Margaret Trudeau, Hadrien Trudeau and Xavier James Trudeau. The family visited the Taj Mahal two days ago and were in Ahmedabad as they visited the Sabarmati Ashram in the city. Mumbai and Amritsar were a part of the itinerary too.
Speaking about his visit, Trudeau had earlier told a leading daily, “One of the things that I really wanted to show to my kids is the extraordinary diversity of India, being able to go to a mandir, to Golden Temple, to a mosque and then to other places, this highlights the diversity and pluralism of India which isn't without its challenges.”
More than often the diplomatic dignitaries pick ensembles from designers of the country they are visiting. For her look, the Canadian first lady Sophie Grégoire Trudeau picked a sunny yellow kurta-sharara ensemble by Indian designer Anita Dongre for the occasion. The rest of the family wore traditional Indian wear too.
Sophie looked stunning in her yellow chanderi suit as she was looked radiant. The showcased our signature embroidery—the traditional Rajasthani craft of Gotta Patti along with pearl zardozi.
When asked about dressing Sophie Grégoire, Anita Dongre said- "I am very happy to have had the opportunity to dress her and look forward to meeting her and having a heart-to-heart about relevant social and women’s issues given her active involvement with charities across the globe,”
Looks like Sophie is following the footsteps of The Dutches of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. This is not the first time Anita Dongre dressed a foreign dignitary. Previously, Kate Middleton too wore Anita Dongre for her visit to India. Kate Middleton wore a printed Anita Dongre dress on her Royal Tour to India and Bhutan. Owing to the fact that Kate was seen wearing this dress, Anita Dongre's factory was temporarily forced to stop their production only to meet the demand of that dress.

Justin Trudeau is scheduled to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 23.
