With every passing day, designers are bringing in a new twist to their fashion shows, making it the talking point of the fashion circuit. Raf Simons, Chief Creative Officer at Calvin Klein presented his show in quite a unique fashion. The designer flooded the runway and the set were both filled with popcorn and created an instant buzz.

It is Raf’s second season with the American powerhouse brand and it was heavily inspired by the on-going state of America. “Freedom”, “civil”, “firefighter”, “war”, and 50 such keywords were used to describe the U.S. The set comprised of three tattered barns which featured the artwork of Andy Warhol. The ultra glam attendees and fashion forwards suggest that the sea of popcorn perhaps meant, “burned-down cornfields.”

The collection comprised of oversized and bright firefighter style-jackets. It was a dystopian-inspired collection and included plain prairie dresses, gloves and hazmat boots, western shirts and Mylar-inspired pieces channeling the look of an astronaut.

The background score also added to the intriguing ambience with Simon & Garfunkel’s, “The Sound of Silence” being played as models walked down the popcorn-filled runway. The show concluded on a snippet of David Bowie’s, “This is not America” leaving a cryptic message.

Nicole Kidman, Michael Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Margot Robbie and Millie Bobby Brown were some of the front row seaters.
