Avengers: Infinity Wars’ actress Elizabeth Olsen wishes her costume showed less cleavage

Actresses being objectified is a common norm all across the globe and is not just limited to a particular country. Time and again people have called out against this practise. One of the most popular franchise, Avengers, which is followed, watched and loved by many is not far behind. The franchise whose USP lies in their superheroes involves a lot of female superheroes as well. Recently actress Elizabeth Olsen who plays the character of Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Infinity Wars spoke out loud and pointed about being objectified in the movie.
When asked by Elle as to what she would choose if she could choose her own costume she said, “It would just not be a cleavage corset. I like corsets, but I'd like it to be higher. Everyone has these things that cover them — Tessa Thompson does, Scarlett does. I would like to cover up a bit. It's funny because sometimes I look around and I'm just like — wow, I'm the only one who has cleavage, and that's a constant joke because they haven't really evolved my superhero costume that much. But then you look at where it started in the comic books and it was a leotard and a headband so…oh, it's horrible, it’s so horrible. So at least they know that’s not cool."

Elizabeth also told Elle she's seen major strides for inclusivity in Marvel movies. “They recognize that they have such a huge platform, and they're using it to be as inclusive as they can with their storylines and representing the world, that's why Black Panther felt like such a huge thing in culture, and they're aware of it, and their goal is to not make the same stories that have happened over and over and over again. I think that's why the movies continue to be successful from a story and tone point of view."
The actress had also taken to Instagram and posted a photo with the caption, “Does this look like me?” after her photo was photoshopped in an Empire cover with the Avengers: Infinity Wars cast.
