With 2018 coming to an end, we look back at some shocking UNCOOL COPIES
Designers get accused of copying and it's literally SHOCKING!
Isn’t it always tempting to look like our favourite celebrities? But is it always right on the basis of plagiarism? To put it simply, plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and pass them off as one's own. Over the past year, we saw surprising rip-offs of some of our favourite designers. Not only that, but a few Indian designers were also seen taking ‘inspiration’ from popular international brands. While being inspired by somebody’s work is acceptable, is copying or using their designs really ethical? An anonymous account on Instagram - Diet Sabya (which is also a copy of a popular Instagram account - Diet Prada! Ironic, isn’t it?) is on this quest of publicly accusing these designers who make and sell rip-offs of popular brands. #Gandicopies is the hashtag they use to shame the designers.
We take a look back at all these looks ‘inspired’ by popular brands.
Being a reputed international designer like Prabal Gurung does come with its cons. A few fashion labels have tried to make and sell an exact rip-off of his designs. But this one is by far our favourite. Bella Hadid wears Prabal Gurung SS18 and looking similar - Krystal Dsouza in Beg Borrow Steal.

Dresses from a popular international label - Zimmermann has been copied down to the details of the trims. Shraddha Kapoor wears the popular label Zimmermann while Preity opts for a rip-off by Forever Unique.

Designers themselves (*cough* *cough* Masaba) have been featured on the popular Instagram handle. Is Masaba copying Lady Gaga or just taking inspiration from her?

The account also made trendy memes which went viral.

Now, this is just too much. Isn’t it? Iconic design duo - Shantanu and Nikhil have been ripped-off down to the last trim and drape.

Is this copied or original? You tell us.
Peak Charlotte in Michael Kors and Anushka Sharma in Nikhil Thampi.

Not just designers, popular brand labels have also been accused of plagiarism and how! The iconic Dior bra strap was ripped-off by ONLY.

We saw designers and popular labels. How can we forget beauty brands? Surprising as it is, this was a creative rip-off by L’oreal.

When questioned, a lot of these brands blame (the research, approval, production and selling of these rip-offs) on their interns. Funny isn’t it? (#guts, hahaha)
We clearly think that these photos say enough. Which rip-off was the most shocking one?
