While Bollywood ladies are great patrons of international styles and trends, they haven’t looked past and forgotten our Indian looms. Of all the desi weaves, Kanjivaram, a traditional style of South India, has always been a rage.
A patent look of yesteryear’s star Rekha, this style is being adopted by even the young brigade of the industry today. The number of stars sporting kanjivaram at Esha Doel’s recently concluded wedding is a clear testimony of the fact. So much so, that when international TV hostess Oprah Winfrey visited india, she took picked a kanjivaram drape by Tarun Tahiliani.
Vidya Balan has joined the league of actresses who are partial to this style. A self-confessed Rekha fan, she too has made this her signature look. Most times Balan pairs them with jhumkas topping it off with either a bun or hair let loose.
