Manish Malhotra : Every Actress' Dream Stylist??

The first word which comes to your mind when i say 'costume designing/styling in Bollywood films', would definitely be MANISH MALHOTRA.
Such is the impact of his work on people's mind. In fact, majority of the people would not even know any other stylist's name.
Personally, if you would ask me to describe 'Bollywood fashion' in 3 words, i would say Manish, Manish and Manish.
Here's a person who completely changed the whole scenario of styling for films in Bollywood.
He started out his career in films in 1990 by designing clothes for Juhi Chawla for the film 'Swarg'. He continued styling for other leading actresses for various films but he got his due recognition in 1995 for his impeccable styling for Urmila in the film Rangeela.
Since then, as we say, there was no looking back for this gentleman and he continued to work with the best in the business and now he is a name to be reckon with.
In fact he is the first one to receive the prestigious Film fare's 'Best Costume Designer' Award for 'Rangeela' in 1995.
He is often referred to as a Magician because he has transformed some Ugly Ducklings into Swans.
I believe, an actress career is incomplete if she has not danced in an exotic location wearing a chiffon Manish Malhotra saree.
His body of work is commendable and his success story, inspiring.

1. URMILA : Rangeela is the film which saw Urmila's transformation from a shabby looking girl next door into a raging sex symbol. All thanks to manish, she was seen wearing glamorous bright colored outfits and looked every bit of a Diva she is. She looked stunning wearing a colorful bikini with a sarong standing on a motorcyle singing 'tanha tanha yahan pe jeena'. Everyone including jackie shroff could do nothing but stand there and stare at her.

2. Karisma Kapoor : Karisma's career can be divided into 2 parts : before Raja hindustani and post Raja Hindustani. She is probably the only actress who was so trashed by the media for her look and clothes when she entered the industry. Manish came to her rescue and gave a new lease to her career with this film. Karisma looked so beautiful in the film and a diva was born. The image of her emerging out of a shop wearing a short red dress saying HELLO to Aamir Khan is still afresh in our minds. And who can forget Nisha's uber cool gym outfits in Dil toh Pagal Hai. From Bra Tops to sexy shorts, karisma looked like a million bucks.

3. Rani Mukherjee : Rani didn't have a great start in Bollywood; blame her poor choice of doing films like 'Mehndi' and 'Raja ki aayegi baraat'. A few Years later, Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan made a big decision of casting her in 'Kuch kuch hota hai'. With Manish as the stylist on the film, Rani was presented in a never seen avatar before, where she was seen wearing colorful short dresses as the London Returned Tina. Remember her wearing that shimmery short dress with a guitar climbing up the stairs to the stage and singing 'Koi Mil gaya?' He made her look so good in other films too including Mujhse Dosti Karoge and Kabhi Alvida naa Kehna'.

4. Kareena Kapoor : Kareena is Manish's favorite girl. He considers her as his muse. Manish has styled kareena for most of her films. From a girl next door Pooja in 'Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai' to the ultra glam Poo in 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham', Manish gave bebo distinct looks in each of her films and she carried off them wid panache. Also, kareena's style of teaming up patiala salwars with long t-shirts in 'Jab We Met' went on to become quite a rage among the young girls.

5. Priyanka Chopra : Priyanka is definitely not the most stylish actress in Bollywood. She kinda looked okayish in all her films barring a few. But, everyone would agree that she never looked so sexy and gorgeous, the way she looked in Dostana. Manish gave Priyanka a no accessory look for the film. So. she was seen wearing short dresses and shorts with bra tops sans any accessory. She looked equally glamorous in a shimmery golden swimsuit and a grey-ish saree and made way into everyone's heart as the Desigirl. Her looks in Anjaana Anjaani and Pyar impossible were equally good.

6. Kajol : Kajol is one actress you would not relate the word fashion to. She is an actress who is known more for her acting prowess than her fashion statement (if there is any). Still, she manages to bring the seventy mm screen come alive with her presence every single time, all thanks to Manish. From the green lehenga in 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge' to the hot net sarees in 'suraj hua madham' frm K3G to her tomboyish look in 'kuch kuch hota hai', Manish made her looks so beautiful. No wonder she is still everyone's favorite.

7. Sushmita Sen : Strutting in all those gorgeous chiffon sarees as the sexy chemistry teacher in 'Main Hoon Na', Sushmita looked her best on screen so far. Even Shahrukh Khan couldn't resist himself and would burst into singing ' chand mera dil, chandni ho tum', every time he sees her.
