Summers are up in full spirit and the sun’s shining brighter than ever. While its a happy time and everyone’s planning their perfect vacation it is also the time of the year when our skin needs the maximum amount of coverage and protection. The dry and humid climate of our country tends to leave our skin dry and tanned and we all know how important good skin is. While one must always eat healthy and keep themselves hydrated that somehow is never enough. To get the perfect skin in summers one needs to have their most useful tool in place which is a sunscreen that suits our skin.

For years now we’ve been told to apply a sunscreen before heading out in the sun. In spite of applying the sunscreen our skin tends to tan, become dark or become excessively oily. While we do agree that sometimes the sunscreen does not suit our skin; many a times its our fault as we unknowingly choose a wrong sunscreem which isn’t meant for our skin type. Listed below are the five important things that you must consider before buying a sunscreen.

Use sunscreen according to your skin type

It is extremely important for one to use a sunscreen that suits their skin type. If you’re someone who has dry skin then you should use a sunscreen with a moisturizer. If you have oily skin then a sunscreen with an SPF of 50 should be good and if you have normal skin then use one with an SPF of 30.

Tinted sunscreens are the next big thing

Tinted sunscreens are getting popular by the day. The advantage of this product is that it helps in concealing dark spots and blemishes and also protects the skin from harmful UV rays. This is widely beneficial as it helps us skip the application of a concealer or foundation.

Put on sunscreen after applying moisturizer

Many feel that one should apply a sunscreen and then apply moisturizer as it helps in blending it better in the skin; however that is not exactly the correct way. You should always apply a moisturizer, let it sink in and then apply sunscreen. This is because if you apply a moisturiser over a sunscreen; then the SPF properties will fade all and it will not lend any protection to the skin.

Application of sunscreen

It is extremely important for an individual to apply makeup in the right order to get the maximum results. Always moisturise your skin first in upward and downward motion and then apply your preferred sunscreen. This will help your skin in soakin all the SPF and will also make applying makeup easier.

Apply sunscreen 30 mins before heading out always

It isn’t a myth when we are advised to apply sunscreen 20 minutes before heading out in the sun. This allows the sunscreen to settle in the skin but make sure you re-apply the sunscreen every 2-3 hours as it’ll give better protection.

Sunscreens are a basic essential irrespective of the fact if you’re a makeup user or no. The effects of using it will be seen in the long run as it protects our skin and helps it look brighter and glowy.
