Winter Hair Care Tips: Avoid THESE hair care mistakes to prevent damage

We all have a set beauty routine and changing it seems like such a hassle. No matter what the weather, we'd be more than happy to let our awesome skincare routine remain the same. But that's just a dream because every weather impacts our skin and hair in a different way and we need to change our beauty routine to prevent problems that are caused by the change in the weather. With winter almost here, we all need a special beauty routine for hair care but the important question is, are you making a haircare mistake that might be damaging your hair during winters? Some of us end being lazy and ignore the importance of changing our hair care routines and the others make common haircare errors that lead to damaged hair but preventing such damage shouldn't be as difficult if you know what mistakes you're making. You can save your hair by changing your routine and preventing common hair care mistakes that most of us making during winters.

Here are some hair care mistakes to avoid.

1. Avoid washing your hair with hot water. It gets really cold during winters and no one wants to take a bath with cold water and fall sick but we end up making the one mistake that damages our hair when we make this mistake. Too hot water can wreak havoc on your skin and your hair. It strips your hair of its natural hydration and moisture. It also strips your hair off, of the natural oil that it creates.

2. Don't skip out on a hair conditioner. Leaving the hair conditioner in and waiting to wash it off in cold weather can make things difficult but if you skip out on using a hair conditioner you're stealing the nourishment and moisturising and pampering that your hair needs during winters.

3. Avoid overwashing your hair. Our hair gets dry and the scalp gets flaky and the one way out that we use is washing our hair, but this could lead to hair and scalp damage. You may be using a conditioner to hydrate your hair but if you're washing it too many times it is stripping your hair off its natural oils and this could cause dandruff or worsen it.

4. Stepping out with wet hair is not a good idea. This will definitely make you sick but other than that the cold weather can impact your hair and freeze and dry them up more than usual when they're wet. Moreover, wet hair is vulnerable and more prone to damage.

5. Using beanies and hats. Taking off your hat and putting it on again can cause more friction between the hair strands and weaken them. It also flattens your hair and does not give it any breathing space. So, avoid using a hat or a beanie for too long.

6. Our hair does get damaged a little bit no matter how hard we try and the main target are the ends of our hair. The harsh winters dry them up and weaken them but this damage spreads if we don't trip our hair on a regular basis. Try to trim your hair once in every 6 to 8 weeks to prevent split ends and any major damage.

7. Avoid colouring your hair during winters. Winters are harsh on your hair and dry them up, but when you colour them you treat them much worse. Our hair comes in contact with bleach and chemical-based hair products that take a toll on it and with winters making it dry already it can make things worse.
