Shaving or Waxing; Which hair removal method is better? Find out
Waxing v/s Shaving, this is a debate going on for a long while now. Which is the better way or hair removal? Check it out
Hair removal has been backed by multiple methods. From shaving and waxing to creams and DIY ways, we have a lot of hair removal ways to choose from. But, the most popular of them all is shaving and waxing. Both the methods are good at removing the hair but there is an ongoing debate of which one is better than the other. We are here to list down all the pros and cons of both the methods for you to select your favourite one.

BASICS:
-Waxing is a hair removal technique where warm wax is applied to your body and pulled off quickly to remove hair. It removes the hair follicle from its roots.
-Shaving is a method of hair removal in which you use a blade, usually in the form of a razor, to cut the hair shaft to where it exits the skin. Shaving does not remove the whole hair from the root but cuts very close to the skin’s surface.
USAGE:
-Waxing requires a professional to the job. It is too messy and sticky & it isn’t exactly the most convenient method, what with all the hot wax, waxing strips, powders, and lotions.
-Shaving is not a difficult job to do. All you need is a razor and shaving gel/cream and can be easily done at home.
HAIR GROWTH:
-Waxing pills ut the hair follicle from its roots. This is what takes the hair 3-4weeks to grow back.
-Shaving snips away the hair from the surface of the skin. So, the regrowth period cuts down to 1 week - 10 days. People often think that shaving makes your hair grow faster, whereas it takes the same time as waxing does. The only difference is that waxing pulls the hair from the roots which in turn takes a long time to grow and sprout out of the skin.

PAIN:
-There’s no surprise here! Waxing is painful and we all know it. The pain is often amplified even after waxing as it sometimes leaves red bumps in the skin.
- Shaving is painless and if used with a good moisturising agent, hair removal can be a breezy task.
AFTER EFFECTS:
- With waxing, the hair follicle is pulled out from the roots. Over time it tends to reduce the density of the hair, so you can expect your hair to get a lot finer the more you wax.
- As mentioned, shaving snips the hair from the surface of your skin and leaves the root unaltered. Over time, hair growth pretty much remains the same.

COST/QUICKNESS:
-Waxings tend to be costly as it requires a trained professional to do a job. Not to forget the time it requires to book an appointment, travel to the parlour, getting waxing done and cleaning up later.
-All you need to shave is a razor and shaving cream. If you invest in a good razor once, there’s not too much of a cost that follows. It is easy, quick and can be done whenever required.
TANNING:
There is a myth that says that shaving can cause the skin to tan. Now, shaving the skin just snips the hair from the surface and merely does anything to your skin. On the other hand, waxing rips off the upper layer of the skin that makes to think that the tanning has gone away. This is a popular myth and none of it is true.
With waxing being a tedious task, we d swear by shaving. But, with these pros and cons listed, each one of you can decide what’s best for you!
