National Lipstick Day 2019: Here’s how you can DIY lipsticks at the comfort of your home

Lipsticks have been one of the most important beauty staples in all of our makeup bags. Are you feeling dull? Put on a lipstick. Have to go out? Put on a lipstick. Have to click a selfie? Put on a lipstick. For girls (and guys if you are into it!), lipstick has been one of the most sought after and easiest beauty product to deal with. No matter what the occasion, lipsticks can easily make you look glamorous and put together especially on days when you are not feeling it.

But, while lipsticks have their own way of elevating your mood, it requires the right shade to do so. It is the absolute worst feeling when you do not find the exact particular shade. Even if you do find one, there is a great chance that it may not suit your skin colour. So to get over all of these issues, you can now make lipsticks at the comfort of your home. Check it out

Using Wax Crayons:

Non-toxic wax crayons can be a perfect way of making the colour that you want. Just start with a vision of the colour that you want. Cut the crayons and keep them in a sheet. Place your crayon in a small glass bowl with a tablespoon of coconut oil. Bring a few inches of water in a pot to a low boil, then put the glass bowl in so it rests atop the water. Slowly, the crayon will start melting giving you the desired colour. (Just remember that a little colour goes a long way). Once the wax has been melted, pour your mixture into your container of choice and voila your lipstick is ready.

Food Colouring:

This is the easiest way of making lipstick. Just add a few drops of natural red food colouring in a tablespoon of coconut oil or cocoa butter. Leave it in the fridge to cool and your lipstick is ready! If you’re feeling like an artist, you can go ahead and create your own custom blend of colours for a more unique hue.

Blush | Eye shadow

Oils and kinds of butter make for a great base agent in making lipsticks. Mineral powders are the best thing to add colour as they mix really well with the base which also helps in enhancing the colour. Crush up your blush or the favourite colour of eyeshadow into a tablespoon of oil or shea/cocoa butter and refrigerate for 15 minutes. There, you have hydrating lip colour with plenty of pop.

Formulating your own DIY lipstick is just downright fun, from the cooking process to using your very own homemade product! so what are you waiting for?
