We love applying different shades and types of nail paints. Some of us prefer applying standard colours of nail paints, while others love to experiment with different variants of nail paints. Be it matt, glossy, shimmery, or transparent we love to try it all. But most of the times, all the hard work of applying nail paint goes in vain, since the nail paint doesn't even last for 10 days. And if you are someone who faces the same issue, then worry not, we have got you covered with this one.

Our hands go through a lot during the day (makeup application, typing on keyboards, washing dishes, and so on), and poor nail paints don’t stand a chance. Use these tips and tricks that'll help your nail polish last longer.

Keep shorter nails:

When you have long nails, you tend to use it for peeling off stickers, putting keys on key rings, etc. And the tips are more exposed, and this harms them anyway. Short nails are shorter than the tip of your finger, meaning that your finger, will take the force of any activity that could create chips.

Use the best topcoat:

Using a good quality base coat is quite essential since it keeps your polish chip-free for at least a week. If you only have one thing to make your nail paint last, then it's got to be using a good topcoat.

Dry your nails enough:

If there are smudges and dings during dry time, then that'll ruin all the hard work put in. A good way to tell if your nails are dry is to make your pinky nails face each other, then gently touch them together. If you pull them apart and they feel slightly tacky, your nails still need time to dry. If they don’t stick to each other at all, you’re good to get moving.

Apply thinner strokes:

Applying thick coats of nail polish can tend to peel off, making the life of your nail paint shorter. Instead, go for thinner strokes, getting just enough polish on the brush that you don’t overload your nails.

Say no to the cuticles:

When you apply the nail polish, keep it away from your cuticles, because colour applied there is more likely to peel away than polish applied directly to the nail.

Buffering helps:

Even if you try several tips for your nail polish to last longer, small chips do appear with time. Hence, to avoid that file down the tips of your fingernails to solve the problem.

Use these tips and your nail paints will last longer than it usually does.
