Meeting a prospective lover can turn you into a nervous wreck. The excitement of meeting someone for the first time and those butterflies in your tummy and that excitement running through your body can be an amazing and a stressful feeling. Your first date with a person can be a big deal. Especially if you’re looking for something long term. We all are aware of the halo effect and we understand how important it is to make a good first impression. In an attempt to make a good impression we do tend to get a little carried away sometimes. All the excitement and nerves can make it difficult to decide what you want to wear and how you want to present yourself in front of them and which side of yourself do you want to show. In all of this, make-up plays an important role. Here are some tips to keep it simple and chic and real for your first date.

1. Ensure that you put your make up as per the occasion and the place you’re meeting your date for the first time. It’s important that your make-up isn’t overdone or underdone. Don’t try to go for the natural look if you’re going to a club and don’t overdo the smokey eyes if you’re simply eating out at a restaurant.

2. Don’t use too much foundation. Too much foundation can feel heavy on the face and look cakey. You don’t want your date to feel that you’re trying too hard. Go easy on the foundation.

3. Don’t forget to go easy on the eyes as well. Avoid doing too much with your eyes. Even if you’re going to a club don’t overdo your eyes. Try to keep it real. Go with your original style and remember to look like yourself.

4. Don’t forget to use a moisturizer before you put on your make-up. If you have dry skin then you will need the moisturizer much more. Foundation without a base of moisturizer can look cakier and can make your skin feel even drier and tight. It can make your make-up look bad and make you feel uncomfortable as well.

5. Don’t forget to use a concealer. You may be comfortable with your panda eyes or uneven skin tone but using a concealer is not such a bad idea. Covering up those little things on your first date helps your date realize that you don’t mind putting in a little effort to look perfect for him every now and then.

6. Go with a winged eyeliner. A winged eyeliner speaks for itself. It makes your eyes look better and it brings attention to your pretty little eyes.

7. Don’t skip out on the mascara until and unless you want to look like you have non-existent eyelashes. Especially because most men these days seem to have longer lashes than us girls.

8. Avoid using any face mask or going for a cleanup or facial or even threading a day or two before your date. This makes your skin raw and your treatment is too fresh to test. Moreover, you do not want to irritate your skin.

9. Try to go with waterproof make-up. You don’t want your make-up coming off at the sight of a drop of water or tears of laughter. Waterproof make-up will ensure that it does not roll down and stain your face.
