Tis' the season to cosy up beside the fireplace, sip on hot chocolate, decorate your tree and get presents. But it is also the season for dry and flaky skin, chapped lips, scaly legs and frizzy brittle har. For your skin, winter is not the best thing that can happen. But it should not bring you down. This only means that its time to upgrade your beauty regime and use products with stronger hydrating capacity.

In winter, it is all about protecting the moisture. A way to protect the moisture without giving up those hot showers that is! Here are some ways in which you can help protect and restore your skin and hair in the harsh winters and still shine bright like a diamond!

Moisturise

The skin gets further dried out after a hot shower. The solution is not to stop taking hot showers - we don't want you to freeze! Instead, just apply the moisturiser on your body and face, righ after your shower, in your steamy bathroom! One you have toweled dry, quickly slather on some moisturiser as this prevents drying and locks in the moisture almost immediately. 

Oil therapy

It is extremely painful to watch your nails break off, especially when they are freshly manicured. Don't let them break off this winter. Slather almond milk on your nails every night before you sleep as this helps preserve the moisture and heal split nails.

Stop exfoliating

It is true that exfoliation removes dead skin cells. But when you exfoliate your already dry skin, it can cause the tissues to break and make your skin worse. This winter, switch up your scrubs to peel to eradicate the dead skin in a smoother way. 

Care and protect

A pedicure is not the solution to all your feet problems. Your heels get worn out from constantly walking around and starts to crack. It gets bad when it is ignored for long periods and even starts to crack and bleed! To take care of your heels, start a nightly ritual of applying vaseline on your heels and wearing socks before bed. This will lock in the moisture and ensure that your heels are protected and baby soft. 

Tea therapy

One of the most common and annoying problems everybody faces in winter are chapped lips since the skin on the lips is the most sensitive. To restore the plumpness of your lips, just make some tea! Use the teabags as a lip-healer by placing it over your lips. Tea is one of the most hydrating products and can soothe anything from sunburns to chapped lips. It will be such a relief when you feel the imemdiate cooling sensation!

Vitamin E rescue 

Winter is the most harsh on hair. The cold makes it dry, brittle and easily breakable. Let Vitamin E come to your rescue! Cut open a few capsules and run the oil through your hair.It is also known to promote hair growth so it makes for a good oil for head massages as well! 

Beat the winter

One of the best kitchen foods for skin - oatmeal! Oats are known to contain necessary fats that soothe dry skin that help moisturise dry skin. Take a warm bath and pour some oatmeal in the bathtub. It is sure to leave your skin warm and hydrated. Add some essential oils for a more luxurious at home spa feeling.
