Deepika Padukone, Selena Gomez to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: When berry hued lips were all the RAGE
Today, makeup is all about less-is-more. But in the past, garish, deep red - almost burgundy hued berry lips were all the rage. Here's a look at how celebrities sported the trend.
When it comes to makeup, trends keep changing. The trend that's currently taken over the world, is less-is-more. The no-makeup, makeup look is what every celebrity is edging towards. Neutral toned eyeshadow, barely-there blush, nude lips and loads of highlighter, make for their looks on red carpets and off.
Sometime back though, this wasn't the trend. Bright red lips were all the rage and every celebrity hopped on the bandwagon. Taking it a notch higher, deeper, berry-hued lips came into play and we still think it makes for a glamorous look to pull off.
Deepika Padukone
For the Time 100 event, Deepika Padukone kept her look glamorous yet elegant. While her makeup was soft, all attention was drawn to her glossy, berry-hued lips. We love how she kept her eye makeup to a minimum, with loads of mascara and a dab of kohl to accentuate her almond-shaped eyes. Centre-parted slick-back hair and emerald earrings further accentuated DP's look.
Selena Gomez
If you thought you couldn't go bold with both your eyes and lips, Selena Gomez is here to prove you wrong! The Hands To Myself singer accentuated her eyes with a well-blended smokey eye and cat eyeliner look while also sporting a pigmented burgundy lipstick. It makes for the perfect grunge/emo look if that's your vibe!
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Keeping her look glamorous as ever, we love how the Bachchan bahu accentuated her features. A swipe of coal-black eyeliner and loads of mascara accentuated the blue in her eyes, while she enhanced her look with a lipstick shade that complimented her dress well. A perfect look for a cocktail, we love how Aishwarya Rai's well-styled curls topped off this look.
Dakota Johnson
Making yet another strong case for bold lips and eyes, Dakota Johnson left us speechless with this makeup look. The 50 Shades of Gray actress went in for a well-blended smokey eye and dusty pink cheeks. As if this wasn't enough, a deep berry-hued lip colour enhanced her full lips. Romanic, bouncy waves that framed her face well, made us believe that only she can pull off bangs so well!
Kareena Kapoor Khan
The Begum of Bollywood also experimented this look while playing showstopper at a fashion show. Going for a deep, grunge look, Bebo ensured all eyes were on her plum-hued lips by keeping the rest of her face minimal. The wet hairdo and sharp brows only added to this look.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas
Taking a page out of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's beauty handbook, PeeCee also sported a lip shade that matched her Oscar De La Renta dress a few years ago. While it's hard to ignore the wrong shade of foundation used to cover up her minimal blemishes, we love how romantic this look was with tinted cheeks, loads of mascara, structured brows and a slick hairdo.
