Are you prone to fungal infection? Here’s how you can prevent it during the monsoon
Fungal infections are common during this humid season but it is also essential for us to prevent them for a better way of life.
Moisture helps the bacteria breed and infections spread. Monsoon is when there is the maximum moisture in the air. The humidity helps bacteria breed at a faster rate and all the moisture in the air helps it spread faster and infect more people. Due to this, it is much easier to get infected with fungal infections during this weather. Fungal infection is a very common problem in this weather and our skin is more prone to it due to the exposure it has. This is why your regular skincare routine needs to change in order to ensure that your skin remains safe and protected from fungal infections. This infection can spread throughout your body and make you itchy and irritated. That why it is essential to take steps to prevent such skin infections during this wet and humid season. Here are the steps you can take to prevent a fungal infection.
1. The fungal infection mostly targets your feet. If you wear closed shoes to work while traveling to work during the monsoon, chances are that you end up with wet socks and spend the rest of your day at work in moist socks and squishy shoes. The water that enters your shoes and soaks your socks is generally dirty and full of bacteria and when you wear wet socks all day full of germs you put yourself at the risk of developing a fungal infection. Try wearing open footwear to work and change it once you get to work.

2. It’s essential to keep your skin dry but we do end up with some dirty rainwater on our body. Change out of wet clothes at the earliest if you’ve gotten wet because if you don’t you end up giving the bacteria the time it needs to grow and infect you.

3. Ensure that your hair remains clean. When you step out in the monsoon your hair also tends to get wet and carry germs and bacteria. Due to this many people end up with skin infection. Your hair constantly touches your face and most of us leave our hair open to dry during this time. Due to this the germs come in contact with our skin and our scalp and infect it easily. It’s essential to keep our hair clean and wash and towel dry them as soon as they come in contact with unclean water or air.

4. Take a bath after you come home. Put a few drops of an antiseptic in the water before you take a bath. Try using lukewarm or warm water to take a bath. The heat and the antiseptic help kill all the germs and keep your skin clean and safe.

5. Wash your feet and your hands as soon as you come indoors. These two parts of your body come infrequent contact with the germs and can help them infect and spread all over your body. Wash your feet and hands at the earliest.
