Hair Care: 5 tips and tricks to avoid SPLIT ENDS

While we all love to look gorgeous and have good hair day, regular styling and the excessive heat can cause split ends. They make your hair appear frizzy and damaged. If you have too many of them, there is a great chance that the hair will also stop growing. It is the most dreadful thing when you know that your hair is getting damaged but there is very little that you can do. It can be because the natural oils, proteins and vitamins secreted by the scalp are unable to travel down the length of the hair, making it look dry and frizzy.

While there is no way to reverse the split ends, there are certain tips and tricks you can follow to avoid getting them in the future.

LEARN TO ROCK SECOND DAY HAIR

Washing your hair every day can cause breakage and strip your hair of the natural oils. This makes your hair frizzy and does not let the natural oils reach the ends causing it to split. Learn to rock the second and third-day hair to avoid stripping the hair from its natural oils and proteins. You can also use your favourite hair serum to avoid the ends from getting dry.

SHAMPOO ONLY THE SCALP

When you are in the shower next time, do not rub the shampoo in the lengths of your hair. This strips the lengths of its natural moisture. Your only focus should be the scalp where most of the dirt is accumulated. Rubbing the shampoo on the wet and fragile lengths will only make the hair drier and increase split ends.

TOWEL DRYING

After a shower, simply tie your hair in a micro-fibre cloth. If you need, you can gently pat the hair dry. But, remember to not scrub the hair with a towel. This will just add micro scars on the already fragile and wet hair, causing it to break and keeping the hair cuticles open.

HEATING TOOLS

Every hair cuticle opens up in excess heat that can cause split ends. Also, don't blow-dry your hair so it is completely dry. Instead, try to leave it a little damp and let the rest air-dry. Overheating can tamper with the health of the hair and cause more problems to the already vulnerable parts.

DO NOT STRETCH WET HAIR

Wet hair is extremely fragile. So combing the hair when its wet can cause breakage and uneven strands. Even tying the hair can test the elasticity of the hair while causing it to stretch. Make sure when you wear your hair up, you're using a hair tie without any metal fasteners and so that when your hair is completely dry.  How do you take care of your split ends?
