The Zimbabwe Cricket team was supposed to travel to Bangladesh for its T20 Tri-series including Afghanistan that was scheduled in September. However, on Thursday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) suspended the Zimbabwe cricket with immediate effect due to its excess political interference in its administration. The team is suspended from playing any match organised by the ICC and it also cancelled its tour for the T20 tri series.

Zimbabwe Cricket said in a statement on Saturday that the team will not be able to stage first domestic competition or its future tours programme. "To exacerbate the matter, ZC will not be able to stage first domestic competitions nor to fulfill its Future Tours Programme (FTP) and other international obligations, including the tour to Bangladesh for a T20 triangular series that also includes Afghanistan in September," said Zimbabwe Cricket.

Several cricketers from the Zimbabwe cricket also expressed their disappointment post the unfortunate circumstance that the team is going through. Solomon Mire also announced his retirement post the suspension.

The statement also added that the players and staffs are bearing the burn of the standoff and said that they might even be forced to go without their salaries and match fees for months or even forever. "We would like to see our teams playing again as soon as possible and the ZC board is ready to cooperate with the SRC and other stakeholders to get Zimbabwe back to operating within the confines of the ICC statutes again," was added in the statement published by the Zimbabwe Cricket.
