Yeri rings in her birthday by making a generous donation to Jusarang Community’s Baby Box
The Red Velvet member donated 10 Million KRW to the local organisation that supports abandoned babies and single mothers.
What a great way to celebrate birthdays! The Korean Entertainment industry is known to celebrate their birthdays with any donation that makes the world a better place. And the latest good deed was done by Red Velvet’s member, Yeri. On her birthday that was March 5, she donated a total of 10 Million KRW to an organisation that aims to protect the most overlooked community - baby orphans and single mothers.
Jusarang Community’s Baby Box is a safe place for abandoned babies and single mothers. It rescues and supports the infants who are dropped off in their “baby box” dropboxes, offers counselling to single mothers, provides baby care kits, financial assistance and supports mentally-disabled children too. According to a Naver article, Red Velvet’s Yeri plans to help single mothers by creating a specialised childcare kit for raising babies under 36 months of age.
Here’s what Yeri had to say about her donation:
Founder of the Jusarang Community, Pastor Lee Jong Rak expressed his gratitude to Yeri in a statement. According to Naver, he said, “I am grateful for the precious support given for single mothers in the midst of economic difficulties due to Corona 19.” Set up in December 2009, till today Baby Box has saved 1847 abandoned babies and counselled over 300 families to raise their babies without giving them up.
