The latest suspense thriller by tvN, "Mouse", which has made all the buzz with its spine-chilling teasers, is set to premiere tomorrow with its star-studded cast.

"Mouse" will unveil a chase, essentially leaving us to ponder over the question, "What if we could identify psychopaths in advance?" We would follow police officer Jeong Ba Reum, played by "Vagabond" star Lee Seung Gi, as he encounters a serial killer whose ruthless murders have left the nation gripped with fear. Joining him would be his partner Go Moo Chi, played by "Legend of the Blue Sea'' artist Lee Hee Joon, a veteran detective. We would also meet actress Park Ju Hyun as a high school student, Oh Bong Yi, who is skilled in martial arts. She snagged the Choice Award (Actor) in Asia Artist Awards 2020 for her role in the Netflix series "Extracurricular". Joining the main cast lineup is "Train" actress Kyung Soo Jin.

This drama also raises the ethical questions of whether it is possible to spot a psychopath in the mother's womb using fetal genetic testing and if the child in the womb is indeed a psychopath, would it be wise to have that child?

Perhaps the most interesting feature of this drama is the inspiration behind it. Scriptwriter Choi Ran is said to have been inspired by the Incheon Elementary School Murder case in 2017. The defendant was born with a different gene than normal, the "Psychopathic Gene". Psychopaths have the same brain as ordinary human beings, but without a mirror neuron. They do not feel the pain of others at all. Neither can they perceive other feelings such as guilt, sympathy, compassion, or regret. Therefore, we cannot expect repentance or atonement from the defendant.

The teasers so far have been quite chill-inducing and we’re eagerly looking forward to the premiere, hoping that the drama lives up to its hype.
