Emotional scenes panned out after the ICC World Cup 2019 final as winners England shared the special moment with their loved and near ones. Beating New Zealand in a close encounter in the summit clash, the Englishmen won their first ever World Cup title at Lord's on Sunday, even as the Kiwis were left ruining the "uncontrollables".
After opting to bat first, the New Zealand side scored 241 in the first innings, which was always going to be a stiff target on a difficult wicket. Early wickets gave them the upper hand, but a fine partnership between Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes gave England a chance. The game was finally tied and taken into the Super Over.
As luck would have it, the Super Over was tied as well, after both sides made 15 runs. Englad emerged victorious as they had scored more boundaries in the whole game - a rule that has come under criticism.
While England were jubilant, the Kiwis were distraught, as they were left to ponder the workings of fate.
Both sides, however, had the company of their family members, who either celebrated with them or gave the cricketers a comforting hand.
In a heartwarming video shared by the ICC on Twitter, the England players are seeing enjoying the revelry with their family, while the Kiwis are being consoled by their partners and children.
