Waqar Younis elated that India did not win the World Cup 2019; calls cricket a great leveler
Former Pakistani cricketers had accused Team India of losing the match against England in the World Cup 2019 intentionally so that Pakistan could not make it into the top four. Basit Ali termed India's loss in the semis as "poetic justice"
Former Pakistani cricketer Waqar Younis was elated that India did not win the World Cup 2019, after they crashed out of the semis against New Zealand.
Younis had accused Team India of losing the game against England in the league stage intentionally so that Pakistan could not qualify for the semis. According to the former pacer, the Men in Blue did not play with sportsman spirit, and that came back to haunt them in the semis.
"Such a brutal game this Cricket and a great leveller... Bites you back when you are expecting the least. I learned a great lesson never abuse the game," Waqar had tweeted.
Other than Waqar, other cricketers from Pakistan too had suggested that the Men in Blue purposely lost the game against England.
Basit Ali claimed that it was poetic justice that Virat Kohli's men were defeated.
"Whatever anyone says, I had said before India would intentionally play badly against England and some other teams. It is poetic justice that India lost a match they should have won easily," Basit said.
However, it seems a case of sour grapes for the Pakistanis, who, instead of introspecting their weaknesses are attributing tehir team's ouster from the tournament due to India not faring well in one game.
