The game between India and Bangladesh at Edgbaston on Tuesday was not only in the news for Rohit Sharma's fourth World Cup ton or India's march to the semis, but also because of an 87-year old fan who won over many hearts with her passion towards the Men in Blue.
Seen blowing a trumpet during the course of the game, she soon became a sensation, with the broadcaster finding her in the stands to conduct a short interview. Charulatha Patel, an 87-year old fan gave the Indian team her blessing, and enthusiastically shouted that Inida would win the World Cup.
"When Kapil paaji won the World Cup in 1983, I was there as well," she told ANI.
"Whenever Indian cricketers come over (to England) to play, I pray for them. I am a big believe in Lord Ganesh and I have full faith that India will win. I bless the players, I hope they take care, do well and give us a chance to win," she added.
In a heart-warming moment, skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma met her after the game ended, and her affection for the duo won over Twitter, who was bowled over by her infectious energy. Kohli even shared a Twitter post appreciating her.
