Virat Kohli heaped praise on MS Dhoni after his knock against West Indies. He backed his former skipper to come good and calls him a legend of the game
Team India continued their unbeaten streak in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 after thrashing West Indies by 125 runs at Old Trafford, Manchester on Thursday. With this victory, Team India moved to second position in the points table with 11 points from 6 games. They now need a win in their remaining games to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
Skipper Virat Kohli carried on his good form in the tournament and notched up yet other half-century, scoring 72 and was named the Man of the Match. This was his fourth consecutive half-century of the tournament and fifth of this calendar year.
During the post match presentation, the skipper heaped praise on MS Dhoni who made 56*. He started off the innings slowly but catched up in the end by smashing 16 runs off the final over to take the team's score to 268.
When asked about MS Dhoni's knock, Kohli said, “Dhoni knows exactly what he wants to do in the middle. When he has an off day here and there, everyone starts talking but we have always backed him. He has won us so many games and the best thing about having someone like him is when you need those 15-20 runs, he knows exactly how to get them. His experience, 8 out of 10 times has come good for us. We have quite a few players who play instinctive cricket and follow their game plans. He has such a keen understanding of the game and he always sends us feedback, that you know 260 is a good score. He’s a legend of the game. We all know that. Just hope he can continue,” Kohli added.
Team India will now take on England at Birmingham on 30th. A win there would automatically seal their spot in the last four.
